Organic EDEN Matcha is the first hand-picked Spring and de-veined green tea leaf, stoneground slowly into a fine powder for whisking. From mineral-rich volcanic soil on Kyushu Island, Japan, it grows in an area that is a rising star for tea in Japan and for implementing organic methods. Kyushu’s mountain-grown organic green tea and matcha are appreciated for their purity and smooth taste.
Carefully Selected Highly Valued
EDEN Matcha is a rare green tea, hand-picked from shade-mellowed plants that thrive in the misty mountains. The leaves are steamed, de-veined, dried, and aged. Small granite stone mills each create about 30 grams per hours of matcha green tea powder. EDEN Organic Matcha has umami richness and a brilliant color worthy of its Master Grade distinction.
Beneficial Polyphenols
Unlike brewed tea that is steeped and discarded, with EDEN Organic Matcha the whole leaf is consumed, completely whisked into warm water. It is green tea concentrate. Abundant antioxidants are responsible for its benefits. Green tea’s unique Epigallo-catechin gallate (EGCG) is the most prominent of these. Together with polyphenols and flavonoid antioxidants, collectively called 'catechins,' they account for 40% of its dry weight. Green tea contains more beneficial antioxidants than other types of tea, which are preserved by steaming the leaves to protect their green chlorophyll.
Matcha contains about 50% less caffeine than brewed coffee. Green tea’s unique acidic and alkaline components give us a mellow mental and physical uplift. L-theanine, a non-protein amino acid of green tea Camellia sinensis, is responsible for green tea’s unique taste and soothing stimulation. L-theanine enhances learning, induces relaxation, and mellows our feelings. Matcha and green tea are not recommended for children. Eden Kukicha Twig Tea is better suited to them.
