Similar to Great Northern beans, but with more durable skin, white kidney beans are native to Argentina and popular in Italy, hence the name ‘Italian’ kidney. White beans and their mild taste are a staple of Mediterranean cuisine. Prized for marinated salads, soup, stew, and with pasta, cannellini beans are the traditional bean of minestrone soup.
