A durable, handmade vegetable brush of palm fibers tightly coiled in wire. The stiff, flexible fibers remove dirt from vegetables so effectively that peeling them can become unnecessary. Primarily used for vegetables, it is also used to clean small spaces of kitchenware like colander mesh and cast iron.
Care
Before first use, wash with a bit of soap and water. Do not use brush on delicate materials. After use, rinse and dry by hanging or placing in the sun. The oils of the palm help the brush dry quickly.
Before this brush’s popularity in Japan over 100 years ago, buds of straw and rope were used for cleaning vegetables and kitchenware. Since then, this type of brush has become a staple in homes there.
