Eden Dentie Toothpowder is an ancient Japanese tooth, gum, and oral hygiene maintenance tool. Eggplants are washed. The calyx and a bit of vegetable is sliced away and this is sun-dried for about a week. The dried eggplant calyx is then slowly dry-roasted until it is completely carbonized. The charred eggplant calyx, while still hot, is finely ground with sea salt into powder. Eden Dentie Tooth Powder contains no chemical additives, coloring, or sugars.
In the 1960s George Ohsawa (1893 - 1966), the founder of modern macrobiotics, rediscovered Dentie and began recommending it to his students.
